Present

The Concert On The Green is now in its 21st year and is the largest event of its kind in Clay County.

It will be held on the beautifully landscaped and serene area in front of Thrasher-Horne Center for the Arts and St. Johns River Community College.

Each year the Concert On The Green hosts a symphony concert for thousands of local residents in a beautiful outdoor setting. The concert is the most attended Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra performance outside of Symphony Hall. For many Clay County residents this is their only opportunity to hear a live performance.

However, the Concert On The Green is much more than just an annual concert. Each year we host the Young Artist Scholarship Competitions in which music and art students compete for scholarships. These two competitions encourage and support the artistic abilities of Clay County students. Proceeds from the Concert On The Green will benefit Clay County Schools’ Music and Art programs and Rotary charities.

As with any event of this magnitude, scores of volunteers are needed to create the unique family experience provided by the Concert on the Green year after year.

This year’s entertainment and events, in addition to the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, will include:

  • an audience of concert goers, picnicking with their families in front of the Symphony Orchestra on the beautiful Thrasher-Horne Center for the Arts lawn.
  • pre-concert entertainment by local musical performers and choral groups
  • a sky-diving show to herald the start of the performance
  • pre-concert activities for the children including an Instrument Zoo, arts and crafts provided by the Art Guild of Orange Park, as well as other fun activities.
  • the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra performing light classical and pops arrangements a rousing grand finale of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture accompanied by cannons provided by the Saluting Battery, NAS JAX
  • a spectacular fireworks display. What a special night under the stars of beautiful Clay County.

Come join us and thousands of your fellow Clay County residents on Sunday May 30, 2010 (weather permitting).
