Concert on the Green
Music Scholarship Guidelines

To be eligible, students must either live in Clay County or attend a school in Clay County.
INSTRUMENTALISTS: Must be memorized for consideration for 1st, 2nd, or third place.
- Senior Division: participants must perform a solo piece from a concerto composition (a single movement) which has symphony orchestration and is consistent with symphony performance.
- Junior Division: follow the above guidelines-if possible. You may play a sonata or classical piece of your choice. It does not have to have orchestral accompaniment. Pianists must have 4 years of experience or a Level 3 in piano proficiency.
VOCALISTS: Must be memorized for consideration for 1st, 2nd, or third place.
- Senior Division: participants must perform TWO pieces which have symphony orchestration and are consistent with symphony performance. One piece must be a classical art song or aria in the original language. One selection must be from a Broadway Show.
- Junior Division: participants may choose to perform one or two pieces utilizing the above guidelines.
ACCOMPANISTS:
- Applicant's audition must be accompanied (this includes senior division pianists). Applicant should arrange for an accompanist, or a list of accompanists will be provided for you. Accompanist fees are the responsibility of the applicant.
AUDITIONS / PERFORMANCES (Mandatory)
- Saturday, April 17, 2010, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm - St. Johns Country Day School
- Monday, April 19, 2010, 7:00 pm - New Grace Church (Public welcome!)
- Wednesday, May 12, 7:00 pm - Penney Retirement Community Sanctuary
- Up to eleven participants from the Senior Division and up to three participants from the Junior Division will be selected from the Saturday Auditions and will perform on Monday at the April 19th Finalists' Concert. It will be at the judges' discretion to place a 9th grader into the Senior Division.
- The Senior Division 1st place winners (vocal and instrumental) must be able to perform his/her audition piece May 30th, 2010, during Concert on the Green. He or she must also be available for at least one rehearsal with the Symphony prior to the date of the concert.
- The Junior Division 1st place winner will be invited to perform his/her audition piece May 30th, 2010, during the Concert on the Green pre-concert entertainment.
SCHOLARSHIPS(*):
- 1st Place, Vocalist Senior Division
- 1st Place, Instrumentalist Senior Division
- 2nd Place, Senior Division
- 3rd Place, Senior Division
- 1st Place, Junior Division
(*) The value will be between $250 and $1,500, depending upon availability of funds.
Judging will be awarded by a committee appointed by Concert on the Green.
