CONCERT ON THE GREEN May 28, 2006 JACKSONVILLE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART (JMOMA) |
| JMOMA’s mission is to build
community through contemporary visual art. The Museum offers summer camp,
guided tours, and weekend family programs to engage visitors of all ages.
Works by local, regional, and national artists compliment a collection of
nearly 700 objects created after 1945. Visiting JMOMA is an interactive
experience where everyone can find something to enjoy—the ArtExplorium
Loft, Museum Shop, Café Nola, and three floors of modern and contemporary
art. Visit www.jmoma.org for more information.
JMOMA will be offering an interactive art project entitled "Blind
Portraits: Drawing Without Looking". Participants will receive a
graphite pencil and a piece of paper. They will have the option of drawing
a person without looking at their paper, or capturing their own likeness
using a mirror. Portraits often look abstract and contorted, but this
is technique used by artists for centuries to focus their attention on
looking carefully at their subjects. The project is accessible and fun
to artists of all ages. |
