Since the age of five, Destiny
has been involved in art. In addition to winning 1st place in the
Concert on the Green's Poster Contest, Destiny was awarded first place
in the PTA Reflections Contest, Honorable Mention in the 2005 Clay
County Student Art Fair, and 2nd Place in the Beauclarc Pottery Contest.
Destiny was told about the contest by her Fleming Island High School
art instructor, Mrs. Theresa Davis, and later researched the event
herself.
Destiny's poster is entitled "Celebration." The message
she wishes to convey through her poster is that "the
Concert on the Green is a celebration of music and art."
When asked why art is important to society she says, "it shows
talent and individuality." For her personally, "art has
helped me cope with a lot of things in my life, save money on gifts,
and helped me decide what I want to do in life." |
